In the Backyard
Exhibition Opening “In the Backyard” by Anna Heraghty @ Cell Art Space, 4.00 – 5.00 pm Sunday 8th January 2012. 109 Lake Street, Cairns City Place.
Special guest Cr Margaret Cochrane will officially open the exhibition and then celebrations to follow at Havana Music Café. The First 10 people who attend the launch at Cell Art Space will receive a special complimentary gift if they purchase a main meal on the night.
The artist’s work was inspired by her own childhood backyard; complete with a Hill’s Hoist clothesline. Although she say’s it is really about any Australian backyard.
The birds are modeled on Anna’s pet cockatiels, which ranged free in her backyard.
The work is black and white, because people would expect it to be colourful and Anna likes to be different.
Anna can envisage her work in a shop window – at a baby shop, pet shop, Library, or any shop wishing to display an Australian backyard. It’s cool, Anna say’s, that her work will be on display over Australia Day.
